Have some input on the best survey sites? Submit a review

We’ve done a fair amount of digging into different survey sites online, and in our opinion, most are a total waste of time (Respondent being somewhat of an exception). But we were curious to see what others thought, and wanted to get different user reviews on different survey sites. Here’s the request we put out:

What are the best online survey sites? Please comment on your experience with any and all the survey sites you’ve tried, whether you made any money with any of them, and your overall experience. The more detail the better.

Here’s a list of all the survey sites that have been submitted so far, along with the comment mentioning them and a summary:

Note that I have not personally tried most of these sites — my notes are simply from first impressions and Googling around, so you’ll want to do your own independent research and read the full comment for each site. But in any case, you’ll notice that a lot of survey sites are pretty similar — they just have short, VERY low paying surveys that are very tough to make real money on. That’s why we mainly recommend Respondent, as they’re unique in that they have surveys that actually pay more than a couple of dollars.

Finally, if you’ve used a survey site yourself, you’re also very welcome to add a comment here and we’ll add it to this article.

Survey Bods

The online survey sites have made it easy for students to make money for them. SurveyBods is one of the best online survey websites that fall under the top survey sites that pay people for their views. The survey website works with top companies that value your opinion. Their surveys are pretty straightforward and hardly take 10 minutes to complete. The site has the ‘strike system’ that checks your honesty, so you have to be very honest with your opinions. The site gives very challenging surveys. After the three wrong polls, the site blocks you, and you want to be able to make money from the site anymore. The site gives £3 upon signing up and completing the profile. After that, each survey can allow you to earn 50p -£3. The site also offers rewards like money, Amazon vouchers, and the prize draws to its community.

MindMover

MindMover is an online market research community for people living in the UK. The site lets you do surveys on all kinds of consumer products related topics. MindMover allows sharing opinions on everything from food to public transport. The website enables you to earn with just sharing your views. On completion of every survey, users will earn points that are redeemed for cash payments. The site is quite a decent option to make money, but it takes time to build up the points as surveys are sometimes few and far between. MindMover also gives the chance to enter exciting free prize draws. The average study takes 15 minutes to complete, and in return, users can earn up to 50p - £1.50.

I would recommend MintVine:

This market research panel has a well-designed page and an excellent user interface. Additionally, an introductory video is enough to get the newbie started. MintVine has an exceptional visual impression that other survey sites lack. They teamed up with Facebook to provide easy to login functionality to the users.

At first, it demands you to give personal information so that they can put you in the right survey category. Users should provide maximum authentic details to attract the survey in which they can perform well. It leads to more data and prizes.

The site practice referral program. You will get 15% of your referred person point, and it will not affect their points as well. Other than this, you could also earn daily deals, products, and services. Users win a Poll Streak by logging in 10 days continuously and participating in the daily poll. By doing so, you can earn 75 points in 30 days by participating in it daily.

Earning a local deal program in return for submitting surveys would cut out your expenses by purchasing products and services at a lower price.

The only drawback of MintVine is they pay a bit late, but it is not spam!

I run a personal finance blog and have tried out a number of online survey sites. I've judged the best survey sites by a few different characteristics:

(1) which pays the highest per survey,

(2) which provides the most consistent surveys that you qualify for,

(3) the amount of time you have to invest to complete a survey

In my experience, Pinecone Research is the best in terms of earnings per survey. Each survey nets you $3 (and you only need to complete one survey to get a check, which I did!). Pinecone Research also makes it clear that they don't want its members discussing the specifics of the surveys it sends. But I can tell you that one survey I took was about a new food item being tested. It took about 30 minutes to complete the survey and was fairly interesting. I was able to do the survey on my cell phone, but it was a bit difficult to select my answers on the phone. One downside to Pinecone Research is that they don't accept everyone. Acceptance depends on the demographics they're looking for. Also, the surveys don't come consistently.

American Consumer Opinion is another survey site I've had a good experience with. They consistently send surveys to my inbox, and I've qualified for most of them. It seems the more surveys I do, the more surveys they send (and vice versa). Depending on the research, I've earned between $0.50 and $6.00 per survey (which is also a pretty good payout). I've even tested out a product for this site and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the product received. Most surveys seem to take anywhere from 5-25 minutes to complete.

Lastly, Survey Junkie - they send me a lot of surveys and very consistently. I didn't qualify for most of them, but I got a few points even when I didn't qualify. The best thing for me is that Survey Junkie has a lot of short surveys - in fact I did most of their surveys while in line at the store. The downside is that those short surveys aren't worth much money, so you have to be consistent to earn enough to get a payout. Survey Junkie was the only one I didn't actually get a payout with.

One of my favorite survey sites is actually a lesser-known one called Qmee. It curates and screens surveys from multiple sources so there's always a good supply, and it only shows surveys that match your profile which is a huge time saver. On top of that, they even calculate the time each survey takes based on other users' completion times so you know what you're getting into beforehand.

Qmee will also pay you for searching Google if you download their browser extension. You won't earn much, but it's pretty much passive income so there's not a lot to complain about. The extension isn't very invasive either, it just adds a small sidebar to search results.

All in all, I make about $5-$10 a week using Qmee, filling out around 1-2 surveys a day. It's not a lot, but I've found this rate to be much better than most other survey sites I've tried. And the best part? There's no payout threshold so you can cash out whenever you want. There isn't a point system either, you get paid direct cash right to your PayPal account.

When it comes to online surveys, I've had the best success with the following sites:

My Points - I earn on average $150 a month. Surveys range from 5-60 minutes. Payouts are usually generated within one day of reaching the payment threshold.

Ipoll - I earn an average of $100. This app is available for both Android and IOS users. Payouts are instant once thresholds are met.

Quickthoughts - This is also an Android and IOS app that allows you to take quick surveys(no longer than 20 minutes). I usually earn around $200 a month. Payouts are instant once thresholds are met.

These are my main tried and true survey platforms that earn me an extra $450 monthly.

My favorite online survey site is Swagbucks.com, because it makes it easy to take surveys and get paid in gift cards. I also like that you can get cash back for shopping at your favorite stores with the site, not only taking surveys. Swagbucks is a great choice for anyone looking to take surveys or simply use it while shopping normally to get cash back in their pockets each week.

Most survey sites are a waste of time because you earn so little and it takes forever to make enough to actually cash out. One exception is my favorite site, Swagbucks. You only need to earn $3 to cash out and you can choose to be paid via Paypal or in gift cards to great retailers like Amazon, Starbucks, Home Depot or Target.

Many survey sites only have a handful of surveys available and they usually fill up fast. But Swagbucks always has at least a few dozen surveys available and many pay $1 to $3.

Even better, Swagbucks is not just about surveys. They offer plenty of other ways to earn besides surveys. You can get paid to watch movie trailers, play online games, search the web and more. I easily earn between $30 and $50 with almost effort at all. If I really focused on earning more I'm sure I could make at least a few hundred dollars a month.
