Derivative products from the Cannabis sativa plant have historically been used for a number of neurological disorders. The CBD-based products were registered for the treatment of treatment-resistant epilepsies. (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6143706)

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the primary psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis and is the reason for the feeling of getting “high,” which is associated with marijuana. However, unlike THC, CBD is not psychoactive.

At lower doses, CBD has physiological effects that promote and maintain health, including antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotection effects. For instance, CBD is more effective than vitamin C and E as a neuroprotective antioxidant. It can improve skin conditions such as acne. (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/9653176)

CBD can relieve pain, and studies suggest that it can be used in chronic diseases. It relieves pain by stimulating endocannabinoid receptor activity, decreasing inflammation, and interacting with neurotransmitters. (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5922297)

CBD oil is shown to be effective in the treatment of seizures in children with certain rare types of epilepsy. But it is not approved by the FDA for any health condition. It is believed to show promising effects on children with autism. Many parents have reported it is beneficial for their children..

CBD oil is unregulated, and you cannot be sure about the product you are buying. Look for these things to buy a reliable product:

- Check for the recommended dose and amount of CBD it contains.

- Check if the oil production has undergone third-party testing and other needed precautions.

- Check if the plant is grown organically without any toxic chemicals.

CBD oil offers a plethora of health benefits and has been shown to effectively alleviate a number of conditions. Of all the forms of CBD, oil is the safest because it bypasses the liver. When consumed sublingually, CBD oil passes directly into the bloodstream. When vaping or smoking, CBD oil passes into the lungs. This helps to preserve your liver, as large amounts of CBD have been shown to cause damage. To alleviate health concerns naturally, you can be confident you’re getting a safe alternative treatment with CBD oil.

If you struggle with insomnia, a growing body of research (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27768570) shows CBD oil can help soothe you to sleep. A 2018 study (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6222489) found that CBD can reduce inflammation and ease chronic pain without the risks and side effects posed by prescription painkillers like opioids. It’s an effective natural alternative to many mental health issues, including anxiety (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4604171), stress, and depression. CBD interacts with the endocannabinoid system, which maintains the body’s biological harmony in response to environmental changes. CBD can help the body’s natural endocannabinoids fight off the effects of anxiety and other mental health issues. As early as 2011, scientific researchers found (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3165951) that CBD demonstrates effectiveness in fighting the effects of cancer like nausea. CBD has even been shown to reduce the effects of acid reflux, including inflammation, involuntary muscle movements, and the secretion of hydrochloric acid. Don’t write CBD off as a health fad; a growing body of scientific research supports its effectiveness in the treatment of many ailments.

CBD has been shown in numerous scientific tests to help a vast array of issues. These include pain management, anxiety and depression, sleep, and epilepsy. Whilst most of these studies are so far on laboratory animals, the results look very promising. Many of these scientific studies are freely available here - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/?term=cbd

CBD is also an anti-inflammatory. So it helps with loads more issues, such as skin complaints, auto immune diseases, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes etc. Once more human trials are completed, I expect there will be more conclusive evidence of how CBD can help humans with almost any ailment.

Yes, CBD is legit.

At first it seems to good to be true, as the claims people make for its effectiveness are so widespread, from cancer to PMS.

Silver bullet solutions don't exist......usually. But CBD is about as close as it comes to one...why?

Because it 'plugs-into' a system thats crucial to maintaining universal human health and wellbeing....the endocannabinoid system.

One of the leading causes of (the increasing incidence of) disease is imbalance within the endocannabinoid system.

Stress, high sugar/fat diet, lack of exercise, lack of sleep, infections, environmental chemicals all disrupt the endocannabinoid system (all the things we know lead to disease).

CBD is a way of restoring balance within the entirety of the body, via the endocannabinoid system, hence why the health claims attached to it are so diverse.

The most robust research so far supports its use in:

  • Epilepsy (1), (2), (3), (4)
  • Pain (5), (6)
  • Insomnia (7)
  • Anxiety (8), (9), (10), (11)
  • Psychosis (12), (13), (14)
  • Symptoms associated with cancer and chemotherapy - fatigue, nausea, vomiting (15), (16), (17)

Pre-clinical / less robust research suggests a benefit for:

  • Parkinsons
  • Alzheimer's
  • ALS
  • Migraine
  • Inflammatory bowel disease
  • Depression
  • Cancer (the process itself)
  • Obesity
  • Type 2 Diabetes
  • Schizophrenia
  • Autoimmune diseases such as MS, Thyroiditis, Arthritis, Type 1 diabetes
  • PMS
  • Hypertension
  • Stress
  • Cardiovascular Disease
  • Fatty Liver Disease

The beneficial effects of CBD oil are legitimate, as we have seen in multiple clinical trials for osteoarthritis (https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fvets.2018.00165/full). There are certainly some poor quality or mislabeled products out there, which can give CBD a bad name. But appropriately dosed CBD that's rich hemp oils is one of the most groundbreaking and effective options we have seen in the past 20 years for the management of osteoarthritis.

The uses and possibilities are likely even more extensive than just for osteoarthritis. Evidence is emerging in dermatology as well. We are learning more about potential uses every day, as our understanding of the endocannabinoid system deepens.

Essentially, the endocannabinoid system keeps the nervous and immune systems balanced or in a state of improved homeostasis, so utilizing CBD and other cannabinoids potentially have far-reaching implications for a myriad of diseases.

CBD oil is really good for either anxiety or inflammation. Many people think that it's good for sleep, but really CBD tackles one of these two pain points consumers experience, and the secondary effect is improved sleep due to less inflammation or lowered cortisol - a hormone secreted by the body during times of high stress.

And what we know about CBD is that it does this through an indirect mechanism of action. Blogs love to write about how CBD works on CB1 and CB2 receptors in the endocannabinoid system - the system that received cannabinoids in the body, but the reality is that CBD works in a more indirect way.

There are two different types of cannabinoids, Endocannabinoids which we create in our body, and phytocannabinoids which are of plant origin (hemp, marijuana). We found out about our endocannabinoid by studying the effects of THC in the brain and discovered anandamide - the bliss molecule, which is molecularly very similar to THC.

Anandamide is received by CB1 and CB2 receptors and helps reduce the sensation of pain, anxiety, and inflammation.

However, in our endocannabinoid system, we also have a metabolite known as Fatty Acid Amid Hydrolase (FAAH) which helps transport and break down anandamide from the receptors, meaning less of the awesome endocannabinoid giving us natural pain relief.

CBD has been shown to inhibit the activity or slow down the activity, of FAAH, meaning that we can leave the anandamide in the receptors for a longer period of time, allowing us to saturate our bodies with more of this precious molecule. And it's this increase in natural anandamide which makes us reap the benefits of CBD. 🙂

Good for Anxiety. CBD can manage anxiety and research state that it can change the means your brain’s receptors respond to serotonin, a chemical linked to mental health. Receptors are tiny proteins attached to your cells that receive chemical messages and help your cells respond to different stimuli.

Anti-seizure. CBD is also widely known to lessen seizures, this is proven and tested. One of the best examples is the story behind the Charlotte’s Web helping a child. It is also considered a possible treatment for epilepsy and other related diseases. The American Epilepsy Society states that cannabidiol analysis offers hope for seizure disorders, which research is presently being conducted to better understand safe use.

Best pain relief. The effects of CBD oil on your brain’s receptors can help you manage pain. Studies have shown that cannabis can offer some advantages when taken after chemotherapy treatments. other pre-clinical studies sponsored by the National Institutes of Health are also observing the role of cannabis in relieving symptoms caused by arthritis, chronic pain, MS pain, muscle pain, and spinal cord injuries.

We have had thousands of customers tell us about what CBD has helped them with and how it has changed their life for the better. Going just based off of customer testimonials we have seen CBD help with anxiety, pain, inflammation, arthritis, insomnia, cancerous tumors, burns, and many more. Now going past just customer testimonials when you look at the science behind CBD you will find that it has amazing anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant.

The endocannabinoid system works to regulate cell proliferation, survival, and immune competence of skin cells. The disruption of any of these factors is connected to certain skin ailments which include, but are not limited to, itchiness and pain, eczema, psoriasis, and even sunburns. Across the board, people use CBD products to ease these conditions. This makes sense since these conditions can be grouped into one category labeled inflammation of the skin. Inflammation is the response of a tissue to injury by trauma like UV radiation from the sun, irritants, toxins, or pathogens.

CBD taken orally and applied topically works to reduce inflammation both locally and generally. This is accomplished through actions on different cell types as well as effects on the immune system. The effects and benefits of CBD are diverse and affect inflammation not only in the outer layer of the skin but the internal layers as well.

For years and years Vitamin A, C, and E were said to be some of the strongest antioxidants. But as more research is done on CBD oil, CBD oil could be the richest source of antioxidants known. How? CBD's structure contains a free oxygen atom (2). This is the atom that neutralizes free radicals. And it is this free oxygen atom that gives CBD its antioxidant properties that make it an assassin when it comes to free radicals.

CBD or Cannabidiol is a non-psychoactive constituent of the hemp plant, meaning that you won’t feel high or intoxicated by ingesting it. CBD is the complete opposite of its sister compound, THC, which is the psychoactive component of the marijuana plant that confers the high that consumers experience. Last year, the World Health Organization stated in a report on CBD that CBD “has no potential for abuse and no potential to produce dependence. It does not have significant ill-effects. Cannabidiol for medical use has been shown to be effective in the management of certain treatment-resistant, childhood-onset epilepsy disorders.”

Many consumers use CBD as a dietary supplement to enhance the function of our internal, endogenous cannabinoid system and many have found significant improvements in health and wellness by using dietary CBD. Clinical Endocannabinoid Deficiency has been implicated in an increasing number of health-related issues faced by individuals. Additionally, many believe that full-spectrum CBD (meaning that it contains many of the natural plant materials (terpenoids, flavonoids, plant waxes, chlorophyll, etc.), has the greatest efficacy when compared to broad-spectrum CBD or CBD isolate due to a concept known as the entourage effect.

While more research is needed to prove many therapeutic claims, the FDA has approved a CBD drug named Epidiolex to treat several childhood seizure disorders. There is quite a bit of research being conducted on CBD for additional health issues, so we hope for more results in the near future.

It was insightful for us who attended the FDA meeting on CBD in May 2019 to hear the speech of Lisa Gill from Consumer Reports. Their data suggested that people anecdotally use CBD for Anxiety relief (41% of those surveyed) and for sleep assistance (39% surveyed said this was the main reason the used CBD). CBD has been shown to calm and relax the central nervous system via it's peripheral; effect on many of the brain's neurotransmitter receptor sites. In particular, there seems to be an effect on the serotonin receptor 5HT1a which causes emotions of relaxation and wellbeing to be expressed.

What is CBD good for? I am not going to tout that CBD is a cure all. Though Epidiolex is FDA-approved to treat seizures caused by two forms of epilepsy: Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome. It is the only drug containing CBD that is approved for medical use by the FDA. That should be enough to show people that CBD does have some legitimate medical value. When Charlotte Figi, of Charlotte's Web, and the story of what her family went through to get access to something that would create a much higher quality of life, is what hit a nerve in America and opened their eyes to the reality of what this compound is capable of. Families flocked to Colorado so they could help create a better quality of life, not only for the one, usually a child, being treated but for the whole family. We all have an endocannabinoid system. The endocannabinoid system is a molecular system that is responsible for regulating and balancing many processes in the body, including immune response, communication between cells, appetite and metabolism, memory, and more. You can imagine that if your system is deprived of a nutrient your body needs, it will fall out of whack.

Some other things people use CBD varies depending on what your ailment is. As stated above, the government has known that CBD can help with seizures for some time. I have employees who use hemp flower and CBD vapes for anxiety. We have found that immediate inhalation can cause an almost immediate calming effect for some. Gummies and other forms of edible CBD work well for others. Too many or too much can have a tiring effect. But we have found that they work well for helping stay more focused and relaxed throughout the day. Daily use of tinctures, like gummies, can help with an overall wellbeing. It may not remove pains completely, but may help it be more manageable. For specific areas of pain there are Roll On muscle relief gels, pain relief creams, and we have some products being formulated including transdermal patches for pain, sleep, and anxiety using proprietary mixtures of CBD and other known and lesser known cannabinoids. You want to get the CBD as close to the source of distress as possible. CBD has a range of benefits. Just like anything that has an affect on the body, what works for some may not work for you. Start small and work up if it is a product that is ingested. If it has a chemical type of taste, you should avoid using it. If you ever suspect you have a tainted product, feel free to reach out to me. I will pay to have it shipped and tested. If anybody ever has any questions about how to use CBD and what product may work best for them, they can always reach out to me or my team at extraktLAB. Health of consumers is the main reason I got into this. Always check to make sure your products were created using CO2. This is usually a sign that is a company that has the means to bring you some of the best products that have been truly tested and checked.

Yes, CBD Oil is legitimately beneficial. Below are three of its most primary and commonly cited health benefits.

Reduce appetite: Despite cannabis having an association with increased appetites, CBD Oil has been shown in studies to reduce the appetite of rats and anecdotally to contain the appetite of people. Although not scientifically substantiated with peer review studies, it is believed that the THC in CBD Oil may cause CB1 receptors, which promote appetite, to be blocked off.

Promote metabolism: By blocking off CB1 receptors, CBD Oil has proven to be capable of reducing the risk for metabolic disorders such as diabetes and high cholesterol or blood pressure. Overactivation of CB1 receptors influences metabolic risks, with CBD Oil serving to reduce this possibility, thus promoting weight loss in people who suffer from metabolic disorders.

Reduce anxiety and stress: Stress and anxiety are often the cause of overeating, and as a result, weight gain or obesity. By helping to inhibit stress and anxiety, CBD Oil can promote weight loss efforts and make losing weight more manageable.

As a medical expert, I believe that CBD oil is incredibly useful for anxiety, and it has the potential to help thousands of people who are suffering from this problem. We know that anxiety affects almost a fifth of the American people, and millions of US citizens seek ways to cope with this problem, with a growing number finding that CBD oil for anxiety helps them. There are many ways to combat anxiety, but recently CBD oil has been gaining popularity as a natural anxiety medicine. CBD oil also has some other health benefits like it can relieve pain and alleviate cancer-related symptoms; it can reduce acne and be even beneficial for heart disease patients.

CBD mainly does two things: it’s an anti-inflammatory, and an anxiolytic. Almost everything else it does seems to be secondary to these effects. It helps you sleep by reducing anxiety, it reduces pain by reducing inflammation. It might help the immune system by reducing inflammation.

It might be mildly helpful for diabetes but the evidence is shaky. It also might increase the growth of new brain cells but that also needs more evidence.

But mainly, it fights inflammation and reduces anxiety, and helps with any symptoms that are caused or aggravated by inflammation or anxiety. It also has a really long half-life, around a day, so it’s easy to maintain steady blood levels. Plus there seems to be no tolerance build-up, and no danger of overdose beyond getting really tired for a day. So it’s not a miracle drug but it has a few clear advantages.

Seems like CBD oil is the new trend these days, as it's been popping up everywhere, so what is it actually good for? Personally, I use strong CBD oil for insomnia purposes, but there are many other benefits as well.

CBD oil is highly effective to treat and manage pain. The endocannabinoid system in the body helps with regulating appetite, sleep, the immune system and pain response. Naturally produced endocannabinoids are neurotransmitters that bind to receptors in the body's nervous system, by impacting this activity and interacting with neurotransmitters, CBD can reduce chronic pain!

There are still studies being done concerning how CBD oil can improve brain health, and how it can potentially protect the brain from diseases such as Alzheimer's and dementia. There still isn't enough CBD oil products that are FDA approved, so they're hard to find. A good example of CBD and brain health is the only FDA approved CBD product, which is called Epidiolex, which helps to control seizures in people with difficult-to-treat childhood-onset epilepsy.

CBD oil has a ton of benefits to using it, the main issue is that there aren't enough studies done, so doctors aren't prescribing CBD oil to treat certain things like sleeplessness and anxiety, symptoms related to cancer treatments, recovery for sports athletes and many other issues. Hopefully, this will change as time goes by, because CBD oil is quite magical!

I have worked as a health practitioner and in the CBD industry for the past few years. Although there is a tremendous amount of misinformation and bad product in the market, I would say that CBD is absolutely beneficial for a variety of health concerns.

CBD's primary health benefits are anxiety reduction, easing of pain signaling and a reduction in systemic bodily inflammation. The major pathways that lead to CBD's most promising effects are actually immunological in nature. It is thorough this balancing of the immune system and body's stress responses that allows CBD to be a powerful adaptogenic compound. My meta-theory for CBD's effectiveness is that it quiets the noise of inflammation and cellular stress in the body, which allows the body to focus on healing without constantly having to respond to inflammation.

CBD interacts with our own human endocannabinoid system to support homeostasis and well-being. The strongest scientific evidence supporting CBD's benefits and effectiveness is around the treatment of childhood epilepsy syndromes and seizure disorders. There is also growing evidence that CBD may be helpful in treating anxiety, sleep disorders, and pain related to inflammation. Some of the biggest challenges for consumers looking to use CBD for well-being are access to and affordability of quality CBD products, and knowing how to properly dose CBD.

Medicinal-grade and organically grown hemp offers the most beneficial CBD products. The bioavailability of CBD oil largely depends on the processing done to get it to the final state; some products may not absorb quickly or at all before you can really reap the medicinal benefits, whereas others, if formulated to help break down CBD molecules into water-soluble particles, can be more effective and require less product to enjoy the benefits. But what are those benefits?

CBD has been studied for topical use in use for skin disorders in recent years. Preclinical data (by Eagleston et al., 2018) showcased CBD’s capabilities for treating skin conditions such as skin allergies, acne, cysts, Kaposi sarcoma (a type of skin cancer in immunocompromised individuals), eczema, and more. This is because the human body’s cannabinoid receptors, when stimulated by CBD, the skin can regulate pain, cellular production, oil production, and inflammation.

In addition to benefits for the skin, CBD from medicinal-grade hemp (with 0% THC) can play a significant role in abating insomnia, anxiety, heartburn, menopause, depression and other physical and mental health concerns.pful in treating anxiety, sleep disorders, and pain related to inflammation. Some of the biggest challenges for consumers looking to use CBD for well-being are access to and affordability of quality CBD products, and knowing how to properly dose CBD.
